In this hour-long children's play, a two-headed traveler finds a baby bird who's afraid to leave home and fly south for the winter, and tries to change its mind by telling stories.
Tales include The Story of Lonely Goblin (A goblin finds a new friend, and forgets his true friend), Frog, Peacock & The Sniffly Witch (two friends use creative thinking to help a witch solve a problem), The Horrible Boy (a boy learns a lesson in kindness and empathy from a Valley Girl Fairy Princess) and The Tale of Heather & Thistle (everything in life, even friendship, must grow and change).
Will the baby bird be brave enough to fly south for the winter? Read STUCK UP A TREE with the child in your life to find out!

Stuck Up A Tree had my five-year-old giggling out loud. From the first mention of a two-headed quibbling character, he was laughing. The heartfelt joyous sound that only comes when you are genuinely amused. A play was a great change for a bedtime tale. My favorite aspect was the gentle fluctuations between narration and storytelling that give lots of opportunity for interaction with the little ears hearing the story. And what tales the playwright has to tell! Inventive and whimsical without being overwhelming and truly age-appropriate. We'd both flock to see this produced on stage and are glad we found this little gem to put on ourselves at night with his comfy bed covers in place of curtains.Product details

Stuck Up A Tree Produced Plays by Rachel Lynn Brody Book 3 edition by Rachel Lynn Brody Children eBooks Reviews
I read this aloud to my two children, Mr 6 and Ms 4. Ms 4 was giggling from the first page. Mr 6 is slower to warm to new things and at first said he didn't want to hear the story at all - there were no pictures and I couldn't tell him exactly what it would be about - but lingered within earshot. Within a few pages of eavesdropping, and seeing Ms 4's evident delight, Mr 6 had inched closer and was also paying rapt attention.
While I've found that there are many lovely picture books for younger children, some of the popular books I have picked up to read to my children in the 6-10 yrold age range disappoint me with their sarcasm, sexism and lazy humour. I'm constantly searching for things that give their imagination wings and make them think a little too.
Stuck Up A Tree is a gem - wonderfully evocative, age-appropriate and funny - we'd love to see a stage production!
Great read for the little ones - bedtime stories or just fun-time stories! Highly recommend this for kids of all ages.
Perfect for early graders. Captivating in its silliness and absurdity, this tale will keep kids entertained to the end. So create great costumes and help your kids or class bring Stuck Up A Tree alive!
