Definitely not a book for young children or the weak minded.

The ElfWitch of Bazzleboo Running with the Elves Book 2 eBook Charles Stuart Reviews
The book Running with the Elves continues with a short sequel where the trope of elves and a human farmboy named Justin decide to spend the winter in a coastal city named Bazzleboo (odd name indeed although the story hints the city was probably once called Dazzling Blue). What was supposed to be an uneventful vacation ends up as a sort of crime plot when the humans the elves were planning to lodge were brutally murdered after one member of the family suffers from a metal breakdown due to the effects of a venomous fungi called the Shadow Mushroom. A half-elf named Riorn befriends the troupe and invites them to stay in his house where he explains the effects of this strange mushroom and that many villagers accidentally ate it during a recent harvest festival. Whereas the always aloof Finn doesn't want to meddle into trouble the heroine Elf of the story Ranellia convinces her human friend Justin to investigate the middleman named Blue who oddly enough supplies Shadow Mushrooms to the afflicted for a steep price and trouble only ensues for the heros.
A well paced story with more character development for Ranellia and Ryl. The plot does have some chapters that dabbles into the philosophical and the percieved injustice of bad things happening to good people. These sorts of plots are always a gamble but fortunately this book keeps the pace of the plot fast. I found Rane to be a fascinating character even though he doesn't appear that much, the Elf-witch Scarlett is pretty damn crazy and I am always a sucker for prison escape stories.
It's a good read and the length is just right for the plot. There is still sufficient plot for a possible third installment.
The continuing story of a family that includes a mixture of humans and elves with a witch thrown in for extra excitement. The unpredictable plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. A thought-provoking story as far as reality and religion.
